For a contemporary theme, High-tech architecture emerged as an attempt to revitalize
the language of Modernism, it drew inspiration from technology to create new architectural
expression. The theorical work of Archigram provided significant inspiration of
the High-tec movement. High-tech
architecture is mostly associated with non-domestic buildings, perhaps due to
the technological imagery. The two most prominent proponents were the Lord
Rogers of Riverside and Lord Foster of Thames Bank. Roger’s most iconic
building is Lloyd’s Building (image below). Glass is often used today as in
Architecture so as to maximize the use of sunlight, glass also improves the
looks of buildings compared to the dull and boring colour of concrete. An
example will be the Manchester Civil Justice Center.
